I just downloaded AMD Radeon Crimson 15.12 and did a full system scan using Avast, and I got this:
'A zip bomb, also known as a zip of death or decompression bomb, is a malicious archive file designed to crash or render useless the program or system reading it. It is often employed to disable antivirus software, in order to create an opening for more traditional viruses.'
Before even running the full system scan I've noticed that whenever I run the installer it takes a LONG time (about 30 seconds, I'm not sure) for anything to happen. I initially chalked it up to my system bogging down and aborted the process after every attempt to install the package, but after the scan, I'm not so sure I still want to install it.
Any thoughts?
Unable to scan: The file is a decompression bomb I know that a decompression bomb is a zipped file that when unzipped releases a very large amount of data but I don’t know whether this file is legitimate and the result of the scan is (yet another) false positive and or if it’s potentially malicious and should be deleted. What does decompression bomb mean? A spoken definition of decompression bomb. Intro Sound: Typewriter - Tamskp Licensed under CC:BA 3.0 Outro Music: Groove Groove - Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com.
A quick Google search for 'File Decompression Bomb' brings this up:'A zip bomb, also known as a zip of death or decompression bomb, is a malicious archive file designed to crash or render useless the program or system reading it.
